What is Soilana?
Soilana is a browser-based 3D voxel farming MMO on HYTOPIA. Two currencies drive everything: Harvest Credits (HC) — proof that you farmed — and $SOIL — the on-chain token that settles real trades between players.
HC is what you grind. $SOIL is what you earn when someone values that grind enough to pay you. Neither is decorative — they connect in-game work to a Solana wallet.
Getting started
- Click Play — you spawn in Stalkhaven, the safe starter town.
- Choose your farmer name (required before play or chat).
- Walk through the earn guide (press O anytime). Talk to Farmhand Pip with E for an NPC walkthrough.
You begin with 8 common seeds and 40 HC.
Why HC matters
HC is not just a number on your HUD. It is the game's measure of farming work — every credit you hold represents seeds planted, time waited, and crops harvested. That is why other players will pay $SOIL for it: HC is a shortcut they did not earn themselves.
Fuel for farming
Every seed you plant burns HC. Without HC you cannot farm. You are constantly converting HC into crops, then crops back into more HC — hopefully at a profit. Run out of HC and your operation stops until you harvest again or buy from the Exchange.
Proof of work
Unlike tokens airdropped for free, HC only enters your account when you harvest. The server tracks lifetime HC and weekly HC — a public record of how much you have actually farmed. Weekly HC can qualify you for supplemental bonus pool payouts (50+ HC/week with a linked wallet).
Inventory you can sell
Surplus HC is your product. List it on the Exchange and it moves into escrow — locked until a buyer pays or you cancel. Up to 5 active listings, minimum 10 HC each, expiring after 7 days (escrow returned if unsold). Your available balance is what you can still plant with; escrowed HC is committed stock on the market.
Crop tiers — higher work, higher yield
Better seeds cost more HC to plant but return far more per harvest. Phantom-linked farmers get +25% HC on every pull.

You also earn gold per harvest (used with merchants and crafting in the world). HC is the economic layer; gold is the adventure layer.
Why $SOIL matters
$SOIL is the settlement layer. HC lives inside Soilana. $SOIL lives on Solana. The bridge between them is the Exchange — when a buyer pays $SOIL for your HC, that payment hits your Phantom wallet on-chain. That is real money leaving one wallet and entering yours.

- Exchange volume — every HC trade requires a $SOIL payment; sellers receive 95%, treasury takes 5%

Treasury & sustainability
The 5% treasury fee on every sale funds protocol operations, liquidity, and future rewards — not a hidden tax on farmers, but the mechanism that keeps the Exchange running when player count is still growing. Premium $SOIL purchases split between treasury and burn, tightening supply over time.
Until the Pump.fun launch, test environments may settle in SOL lamports. The contract address will appear on the Home tab when live.
Your economic path
Everyone starts the same. Where you take it depends on how you compound HC and $SOIL. This is the typical progression — not a level gate, just the natural order of operations.
1 · First harvests
Learn the loop in Stalkhaven: 1 for seeds, right-click grass, wait, harvest. Stack your first HC from common crops (+6 net per cycle). Gold accumulates for merchants. No wallet required yet.
2 · Building surplus
Run multiple plots, keep HC above planting costs, and connect Phantom for the +25% harvest bonus. Your stack grows faster. Track weekly HC — you are building the proof-of-work that makes your future listings credible.
3 · First listings
Once you have HC you do not need for planting, open the Exchange → Sell tab. Price against the floor (shown on this site's Market tab). When a buyer pays, 95% of $SOIL lands in your wallet. You have converted farming time into on-chain value.
4 · Scaling production
Buy rare seed packs from the Shop tab with $SOIL — or reinvest marketplace earnings. Rare crops return +40 HC net per cycle (+57 with wallet), dramatically increasing how much HC you can list per hour. Unusual seeds sit in between for players not ready for rare-tier plant costs.
5 · Running the Exchange
Operate like a market maker: maintain multiple listings at competitive rates, cancel and relist as the floor moves, buy underpriced HC from other farmers and hold for replanting. Watch lifetime stats — HC sold, HC bought, total $SOIL earned — in your HUD.
6 · Full operator
Combine everything: high-tier crop rotation, active Exchange presence, premium reinvestment, optional travel to Hearthwilds for combat and quests, weekly bonus pool eligibility, and a recognized farmer name on the public Market board. At this point HC is your production output and $SOIL is your revenue.

What saves
Farmer name, inventory, HC balance + escrow, lifetime & weekly stats, $SOIL earned, wallet address, quests, skills, region — all persist on your HYTOPIA profile.
FAQ
Why not just earn $SOIL directly from farming? Because that would inflate supply without work backing it. HC proves you farmed; the Exchange converts that proof into $SOIL only when a buyer agrees on price.
Is buying HC pay-to-win? You are buying another player's work output, not bypassing the game. Farmers who sell are compensated. Farmers who grind keep the margin.
Who buys my listings? Other players — and the protocol dev wallet that actively sweeps the Exchange.
Can I play on mobile? Yes in browser. Phantom signing works best on desktop or in-app mobile browsers.
